The Alexis Foundation was established in July 2012 as a registered charity organization. Our long term objective is to provide clean, cheap and sustainable energy to poor livelihoods, particularly children's homes, in the form of bio-gas digesters, solar-lighting and heating as a substitute to the more expensive electricity energy and charcoal. We also seek to encourage tree planting as a renewable source of wood fuel and a means to conserve the environment.

Our immediate objective is to promote healthy living to orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs) particularly those confined to children homes. We do this by providing food to children homes and poor communities with little or no funding as way of restoring hope and life to the underprivileged.

Currently, we have focused our efforts to two children homes, namely Christ chapel home in Huruma, Nairobi and Grandsons of Abraham home in Kikambala, Mombasa; and also Deep Sea slums in Highridge, Nairobi. The living conditions of Deep Sea inhabitants is simply dramatic due to poverty while their health status has been made worse by the heavy presence of the HIV/AIDS infected patients. The population of about 10,000 inhabitants is squeezed within an area of approximately four acres. About 50% of these people have no gainful employment hence stretching further the competition of available resources including food and social amenities. The aforementioned children homes rely on donations from local well wishers since they do not have a reliable donor. In total, our feeding programme is currently benefiting 220 beneficiaries including orphaned children, the sick and the aged.

It is because of these reasons that we are appealing to individuals and institutions of goodwill to partner with us in uplifting the lives of these underprivileged in our society. If required, we are ready to submit a detailed proposal of our current and long term needs.
